How to eat healthier when life gets crazy

Sometimes it can be hard to eat healthy meals when you’re rushing around, taking care of work and life. But never fear — it can be done. Here are some tips for eating healthier — even when you’re on the go.

  • Put fried foods on your naughty list - If you’re going for a chicken dish, choose grilled over fried. And opt for a green salad instead of fries or onion rings. 
  • Ditch the dressing - Going for the salad? Nice! Just remember to ditch the high-fat dressing like ranch and order low-fat dressing instead. Also, be sure to choose mustard or ketchup instead of mayonnaise for sandwiches and hamburgers. 
  • Cancel the cheese - Who wants to load up on fat grams from a few little pieces of cheese? The same amount of fat can go a long way in other meals.
  • Cut out soft drinks - Choose diet soft drinks, unsweetened iced tea or water instead and save on sugar and calories.
  • Avoid burgers - Choose a salad or a chicken wrap instead.
  • Start the day off right - Eating breakfast first thing in the morning is a great way to kick-start your metabolism. Avoid the heavy fried egg and meat route and choose something light like fruit and yogurt, oatmeal or soft boiled or poached eggs.
